Join map enthusiast Henry Wendt and discover his magnificent collection of the first printed maps of the world on display in the Envisioning the World exhibition. Mr. Wendt will speak about his collection, the intellectual trends and the important components that make up these maps.

Henry Wendt
Mr. Wendt retired as Chairman of SmithKline Beecham in 1994 after completing a career of nearly four decades in the pharmaceutical, health care products and services industry. More recently, he served as Founder and Chairman of Global Health Care Partners, a unit of CSFB Private Equity, specializing in investments in health care businesses from January 1996 until January 2002, and then as Chairman of the Investment Committee and Partner of Caxton Healthcare Acquisition LLC until his retirement in 2006.
Mr. Wendt’s interests include antique maps. His collection of the first printed maps of the West Coast of North America, Mapping the Pacific Coast, from Coronado to Lewis & Clark has been on tour around the United States since 2004 and is currently exhibited at the Columbia River Museum, Astoria, OR. His recent collection of the first printed maps of the world, Envisioning the World, is also on tour to various museums. A graduate of Princeton University, he is the author of Global Embrace, a book published by Harper Business in 1993. He and his wife, Holly, are founders and former owners of Quivira Estate Vineyards and Winery in northern California and now make their home in Friday Harbor, Washington.
