Following the sold out inaugural event, Bounty from the Harvest is the second event in the six part BC Bites and Beverages series. Join Don Genova, Master of Food Culture, as he explores the history of the food and beverage industry in BC, while you enjoy delicious food and drink prepared specifically for this evening.

As host, Don will talk about agricultural production that used to be undertaken on Vancouver Island, why much of it disappeared and how it is now coming back on a much more personal level between farmer and consumer.

“The Resurgence of Local Food” according to acclaimed food expert Don Genova, will be the focus of this anticipated edition of BC Bites & Beverages. His multi-media presentation about food sustainability and farm-to-plate culture on Vancouver Island will be accompanied by catered appetizers and brief talks by 5 local farm and food organizations.

The menu includes:

Duck Rillette with fig jam on brioche
Cucumber bouchee with halibut gravlox with dill cream
Beet and goat cheese on an asian spoon
Lamb sausage roll with spicy mustard

Appetizers and tapas created to reflect the theme of the evening will circulate the room through the night as people mingle and explore the world of local agriculture.  Guest farmers and producers such as Alderlea Farms, Saanich Organics and the Victoria Downtown Public Market complement the evening by providing insight into Vancouver Island farming and how people are once again coming together to produce their own food.

This social evening allows guests to mingle with each other, talk one on one with Don and the guest farmers, all while enjoying great British Columbia inspired bites and beverages.

Please note the new date of the event, September 20, 2012.
