Wonder Sunday: Picture Perfect!
2012

Picture Perfect
January 29th, 2012
1-3pm
At January’s Wonder Sunday children can roam the 2011 Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition with their own camera, snapping shots and creating their own photo captions, or use kid-built mini wildlife displays for their own indoor shoot. Families are also invited to take peek-a-boo windows in hand, play an ‘eye spy’ game and peer through the lens at a bird recently added to the museum’s education collection. Most of the activities will be in the photo gallery, surrounded by 108 award-winning wildlife images from around the world, including some by kids as young as 10 years old!
Photographer Gord Iversen will demonstrate a large scale pinhole camera, talk about its history, and provide a template for making a smaller version at home. Guest artist Jacky Sawatsky will create audio recordings of family members telling their stories about what the photo subjects may be thinking, then replay for others to listen on headphones.
Wonder Sunday is a monthly family event designed for children and their parents or guardians to enjoy the afternoon together at the Royal BC Museum. The Wonder Sunday “Picture Perfect” activities do not require pre-registration and is included with museum admission or membership.
